Monika Ploier joined CMS in March 2005 and passed her bar exam in November 2007. Previously, she worked as a trainee for the local government in Styria (2000-2001) and as a trainee for a law office (2001-2003). Monika Ploier specialises in labour law, medical law, medical malpractice law, pharmaceutical law as well as unfair competition issues in labour and medical malpractice law. She is lecturer for numerous hospitals and at informative events for doctors. Her publications include Die Patientenverfügung (advance directive, with Petschnig), Behandlungsfehler in der Medizin (medical errors in treatment, with Prutsch), Organisationsverschulden in Krankenanstalten in Hilf/Pateter/Schick/Soyer (eds.): Unternehmensverteidigung und Prävention im Strafrecht (organisational negligence in hospitals, with Kaufmann, in Hilf/Pateter/Schick/Soyer (eds.): Corporate liability and prevention in criminal law). She is founding member and chairperson of FIRM, the Austrian research institute for medical law, and member of the Austrian association for medical law (Österreichische Gesellschaft für Medizinrecht). Monika Ploier speaks German and English and has basic knowledge of French.
